CHINeSe ACUPUNCTURE !
Acupuncture and moxibustion is an alternative medicine methodology originating in ancient China that treats patients by manipulating thin, solid, sterile needles that have been inserted into acupuncture points in the skin then burn moxa on acupuncture needles. According to Traditional Chinese medicine, stimulating these points can correct imbalances in the flow of qi through channels known as meridians. The emerging clinical evidence seems to imply that acupuncture and moxibustion is high effective for some but not all conditions. Current scientific research indicates that acupuncture is used to treat various type of pain, neurological problems and rehabilitation. There is evidence of pain relief and functional improvement.

A 2012 meta-analysis concluded that acupuncture is effective for the treatment of chronic pain. A 2011 review of eight high-quality Cochrane reviews found that acupuncture is effective in the treatment of migraines, tension-type headaches, neck disorders and peripheral joint osteoarthritis.
- A migraine is a severe, painful headache that is often preceded or accompanied by sensory warning signs such as flashes of light, blind spots, tingling in the arms and legs, nausea, vomiting, and increased sensitivity to light and sound. Migraine headaches result from a combination of blood vessel enlargement and the release of chemicals from nerve fibers that coil around these blood vessels. During the headache, an artery enlarges that is located on the outside of the skull just under the skin of the temple (temporal artery). This causes a release of chemicals that cause inflammation, pain, and further enlargement of the artery.
- A tension headache (renamed a tension-type headache by the International Headache Society in 1988) is the most common type of primary headache. The pain can radiate from the lower back of the head, the neck, eyes, or other muscle groups in the body. Tension-type headache pain is often described as a constant pressure, as if the head were being squeezed in a vice. The pain is frequently bilateral which means it is present on both sides of the head at once.
- Back pain is pain felt in the back. It may have a sudden onset or can be a chronic pain; it can be constant or intermittent, stay in one place or radiate to other areas. It may be a dull ache, or a sharp or piercing or burning sensation.
- Sciatica refers to pain, weakness, numbness, or tingling in the leg. It is caused by general compression or irritation of one of five spinal nerve roots that give rise to each sciatic nerve, or by compression or irritation of the left or right or both sciatic nerves. The pain is felt in the lower back, buttock, or various parts of the leg and foot. In addition to pain, which is sometimes severe, there may be numbness, muscular weakness, pins and needles or tingling and difficulty in moving or controlling the leg.
- Hip pain caused by osteoarthritis or compression of sciatic nerves. A few patients who have had a hip replacement suffer chronic hip pain after the surgery.
In my experience, acupuncture appear to be more effective than routine care in the treatment of migraines or tension-type headaches, same as sciatica, hip pain, acute and chronic low back pain in the general case (not severe or surgery case). After the end of acupuncture treatments, in condition 2 or 3 sessions a week. Average period is 6 treatments, easy case is 2 - 3 treatments and difficult case is 8 - 10 treatments for migraines or tension-type headaches , patient will be not recurrent moderate to severe headaches about 1 years. Same as cases for sciatica, hip pain, acute and chronic low back pain in the general case. Average period is 8 treatments, easy case is 3 - 5 treatments and difficult case is 15 - 20 treatments.
